Love Rowing launches ONE Thing challenge

The ONE Thing campaign, which is the brainchild of GB Rowing Team athletes Hattie Taylor and Ollie Wynne-Griffith, will see people take on various challenges including rowing or running ONE kilometre, doing one hundred push ups or even trying to do one handstand, before nominating friends to do the same.

Hattie and Ollie, who were both part of the women’s and men’s eights respectively for the 2019 season, came up with the idea during their virtual squad discussions throughout lockdown.

Hattie explains: “As a team we had been having lots of discussions about the Black Lives Matter protests and talking about what we could do to help within the world of rowing. We came up with the idea of a challenge that centred on the theme of encouraging diversity and inclusivity within our sport. If everyone can challenge themselves to do one thing to make rowing more inclusive that will add up to a huge movement.”

The challenge is running in support of British Rowing charity Love Rowing, which aims to create accessible and inclusive rowing programmes for communities currently underrepresented in the sport. Participants will take part in their challenge, share it online, donate and nominate friends to do ONE Thing.
